LZ Amateur Radio Club (LZARC)
A new kind of amateur radio community
The LZ Amateur Radio Club (LZARC) is an upcoming amateur radio organization built around curiosity, innovation, and community. We are currently in the process of registering the club with the FCC and affiliating with the ARRL, and we expect to announce full club details soon.
LZARC is not a traditional radio club. While we respect the long history of amateur radio, our focus is on a modern, hands-on approach that blends classic RF knowledge with emerging technologies and real-world experimentation.
While the original intent of our efforts focused on the Lead Zinc District area, we have expanded our reach across Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas, Northeast Oklahoma, and Northwest Arkansas. Our plan is to incorporate members from all across the region and build a community that represents the entire four-state area.
The intent of this club is not to compete with other regional clubs but to work alongside them and support the broader amateur radio community.
What We Do
LZARC members take part in a wide range of activities, including:
- In-person meetups for learning, collaboration, and socializing
- Discord/Online Meetings
- Field Day participation and portable operations
- Parks on the Air (POTA) activations and outdoor operating events
- DMR nets and digital voice activities
- Technical and maker projects, from antennas to microcontrollers to Meshtastic nodes
- Fox hunts and other direction-finding challenges
- Workshops and demonstrations for both new and experienced operators
- Anything RF and amateur radio related, from HF to UHF and everything in between
Flexible Scheduling
We understand that life gets busy. Club events and activities will be scheduled with school and work availability in mind so as many members as possible can participate. This includes evenings, weekends, and rotating times that accommodate real-world schedules.
Who We Are
The club is closely connected to the LZMesh community, which is known for creativity, technical experimentation, and a strong regional presence. LZARC carries these same values into a dedicated amateur radio club environment, welcoming operators of any experience level or license class.
